Wind Down Party / Family Day

Sadly, another season’s end at Driftwood is approaching but the long range weather forecast looks fantastic! Sunny and warm temps right through August are in store for us providing great opportunity to do “what we do“! As the season winds down, I hope all are able to make the time to enjoy the remaining 7 weeks at Driftwood as much as possible – take another overnight cruise or have a family get together! This year “family” is the theme for our wind down party taking place on Sunday September 1st.

For fun, we are going to have Family Day Games and award the champions. As Driftwood has its own “Family of Docks,” all teams will be made from your dock members. It is up to you to choose your Dock Captain whose job will be to canvas their dock and recruit team members for the events. Signup sheets for games will be posted soon in the Rec Center and the matches will be posted Saturday August 31st. Matches can be played throughout the day; the Dock Captains will be in charge of getting things rolling.

Being the labour Day long weekend I’m sure some of us will be out on the water and may not be ashore, so to ensure proper amounts of food and to keep the theme of family going, we will have “pot luck” tables set up in the Rec Center for participants to place their favorite family food for all to share. Homemade is not necessary but votes will be taken and prizes given to the best tasting dishes (1st, 2nd & 3rd). Any type of food is welcome and fresh corn will be cooking at the fire pit. Eating should commence about 6:00 pm during which the winners will be announced and prizes distributed.

Fireworks will top off the evening as soon as it gets dark and since it was a hit for Victoria and Canada Day, popcorn will be popping!

Our Commodores would like to hear your thoughts for the day as well, please see Paula and Anne if you would like to get involved.

We look forward to seeing you there!
